Ciaté Chalkboard Nails | Review

I recently ordered the Ciaté Chalkboard Nail Art Kit from fragrance direct (here), it was an absolute bargain at just £7! the kit includes:

- A matte black 'chalkboard' paint pot
- A 'Mattnificent' matte top coat
-Four Nail art pens

I've wanted to try chalkboard nails for a while now, and although I've been tempted by the Revlon ones (here), I really didn't want to spend £8 on just one polish. This Ciaté set is usually £25, and I was on a budget after recently splurging on a fancy pants camera, so when I saw this on fragrance direct for less than half price I just couldn't resist!

Top to Bottom: Teachers Pet, Jump Rope, Satchel, Recess

As I previously owned no nail art pens, I ma extremely happy to now have four! The first thing i noticed about these is the names, they are all school related which I love! The great thing about these is that they aren't permanent until sealed with a top coat, so if you make a mistake, you can wipe it off with water. Also, although they dry matte, you can simply put a glossy top coat on top - they really are versatile!

I found this nail polish to be really unusual, as unlike most matte polishes, there is absolutely NO reflection, it also had the texture of a chalkboard, its a very strange concept to me but I do like it.

This is a great top coat for this kit, however i found that when i used it with a normally glossy polish, it seemed to go patchy and only certain parts were left matte.. it was very strange, but it is a great for sealing in the nail art!

The verdict...

Pros
- great deal
-packaging is sturdy and also really cute
-the products are very versatile
-comes with a booklet full of nail art ideas
- creates something very unique!

Cons
-Chipping is AWFUL - I cannot stress this enough. Usually polish chips pretty easily on my nails, but this didn't even last a day! However for the price I can't complain, but it's definitely not worth the £25 for a product to chip so easily.

Overall, I would say that if you like to experiment with your nails then this product is for you, but if you want a polish that lasts - its worth avoiding. However I think that for £7, its definitly worth getting just for the nail pens!
